SkyTrak vs Mevo Plus: Quick Summary

When comparing the Skytrak vs Mevo Plus it is worth notice that both the Skytrak launch monitor and Mevo Plus launch monitor have very similar features. Both of these systems have good build quality, very realistic golf courses and provide accurate game improvement ball data for those looking to improve their golf scores. The real difference is in the space required to put them in and the price. The space required for the SkyTrak is about 36 x 12 feet while the Mevo Plus requires about 18 x 12 feet.

Therefore, when it comes to making your decision between these two choices this can be a key deciding factor. If you have the space and the budget then you will probably decide to opt for the SkyTrak but if you don’t have enough space or are on a tight budget, you may prefer to go for the Mevo Plus.

SkyTrak Launch Monitor Overview

Skytrak product image

When comparing the SkyTrak launch monitor with the Mevo plus you will see many similarities between the two. However, as we highlight in our complete SkyTrak review, it has really been a pioneer in golf simulation to make it more affordable to the masses. Due to the size and setup required for their systems they are intended more for indoor use than outdoor use. Despite this, they offer the ability to play year round from the comfort of your own home while getting comprehensive shot data such as total distance, golf ball spin, smash factor, angle of attack, spin loft, flight time and much more. Not only that but if you choose to purchase a bundle then you can get the required digital projector, turf mat and hitting net which is needed to complete your own home golf simulator setup.

SkyTrak software gives you access to a wide range of real life championship golf courses and a driving range to either practice your game, play on the course or invite friends over for a round indoors.

The below video showcases the SkyTrak in action:

SkyTrak Pros

Accurate data tracking

If you are looking for accurate data tracking and a comprehensive at home setup then the SkyTrak is probably better suited to you. The fact that you can play leading courses in the world and get an in depth perspective about your game is a huge benefit for serious amateur golfers who are interested in ball data to know the ins and outs of their swing so that they can focus on game improvement and improve their scores faster.

Durable

The SkyTrak is built to a high quality. Many other budget launch monitors are just that, made with budget in mind whereas the SkyTrak is built with higher quality materials that are more durable. When making a decision on these two golf simulators it is important to consider the long term value that you will get from choosing either the SkyTrak or the Mevo Plus as that may impact your overall choice.

SkyTrak Cons

Price

For its price point it is still a significant investment for most golfers so should be considered a mid range product for the regular golfer.

Longer setup process

While they advertise that it takes about 15-20 minutes to set up the system, we have heard stories from users that the setup can often take a lot longer than anticipated and it is certainly more complicated than the simple setup that you will find with the Flightscope Mevo Plus.

Flightscope Mevo Plus Overview

flightscope mevo plus review

Just like the SkyTrak, the Mevo Plus (read full review here) offers a full golf simulation experience with the ability to practice on game improvement and the ability to play real golf courses. You will get all of the key information from their radar technology about your game such as carry distance, key club data and data points such as angle of attack, club head speed and ball speed. However, to this point we have highlighted some of their competing features but what really stands out when you use the Mevo Plus compared to other home golf simulator options on the market is the fact that the simulator graphics are very high quality.

Their system also allows for better mobility as it comes with less moving parts. If you are looking for a hybrid launch monitor option that still gives premium performance then this may be an ideal option for you.

The below video demonstrates the Flightscope Mevo Plus in action:

Flightscope Mevo Pros

Easier to set up

It is easier to set up the Flightscope Mevo than the SkyTrak because it is essentially a plug and play system that does not require any assembly or significant set up time. Flightscope have stated that you can get the product up and running in as little as 10 minutes which makes it an ideal choice for golfers looking for a system that won’t have a long installation process.

Better graphics

Among simulators, the Flightscope Mevo software is of the highest quality in terms of graphics performance, especially in this mid-tier range for the every day golfer. It is easy to see your shots and where they go and the tracking ball flight accuracy is great as well. When comparing the Mevo vs SkyTrak software, the picture quality and gameplay are exceptional on both launch monitors but the Mevo Plus would just edge it for us in a side by side comparison.

Flightscope Mevo Plus Cons

High cost

This can be the case for both of these launch monitors, they both come at a considerable cost for the budget conscious golfer. There are cheaper alternatives on the market which we will cover in more detail below especially the Flightscope Mevo launch monitor as it provides a side by side comparison on a similar product from the same company.

Alternatives

These aren’t the only two launch monitors on the market. Below we cover a couple of extra options that may appeal to you.

Alternative #1: Rapsodo Launch Monitor

The Rapsodo golf launch monitor product can also be considered on the top-tier list, with it considered one of the best available golf simulators on the market. Because it’s portable, it’s a perfect solution for people looking for game data while they’re out on the driving range or on the golf course. This is something that isn’t possible if you were to purchase the SkyTrak system.

Finally, as far as the cost goes the Rapsodo launch monitor system comes at a more competitive price than the two systems above and is more in line with the original Flightscope Mevo product.

Alternative #2: Flightscope Mevo

You may also want to consider the beginner product the Flightscope Mevo which has less features. This is more basic than the Mevo plus but can provide a solid platform for golfers to get key game improvement ball flight data about their game on the go at a fraction of the price. Sure you won’t get access to the simulation software and graphics that you do with the mevo plus but you do get access to key information about your game whether you want to practice in a tight space at home or at the driving range.

In Summary: Mevo Plus vs SkyTrak Which Is Better?

Both of these options are a great choice for anybody looking to invest into a launch monitor to create a home golf simulator setup with premium software. From all of the mid range launch monitors these two stand out as providing comprehensive performance as well as ball flight accuracy that you would only otherwise find in premium choices. What makes the Mevo Plus a better option is that it is great for both indoor use and outdoor use whereas with the SkyTrak system you are limited to only indoor use which doesn’t make it a great choice if you are looking for a hybrid solution.

The graphics of both software systems are comparable but again we would edge towards the Mevo Plus here too. However, overall these two software systems are very similar and both provide great choices for most everyday golfers looking to invest in a launch monitor and simulation software for indoors with the deciding factor potentially being that one system is more flexible than the other for both indoor and outdoor use and the SkyTrak requiring more space.
